Futuretech Airsoft Hop Arms and Nubs
Futuretech Airsoft (FTA) produce hop-up parts for players looking to fine-tune their gun's range and accuracy. The hop-up puts backspin on each BB as it leaves the barrel, helping it lift and travel further, and the arm and nub are the parts that press the bucking onto the BB. Upgrading them is one of the simplest ways to get more consistent shots.
Flat hop vs R-hop
FTA offer two styles:
- FTA Flat Hop Arm and Nub - a flat hop setup gives a longer contact patch than a standard round nub, which many players find improves consistency and range.
- FTA R-Hop Arm and Nub - R-hop is a well-known approach that uses a concave contact profile to apply hop evenly across the BB. This arm and nub brings that style of hop to a drop-in part.
Which should you choose?
Both styles can work well, and the best choice often comes down to your setup and preference. A flat hop is a common upgrade for players moving away from stock parts, while an R-hop style setup is popular with players chasing consistency at longer ranges. Whichever you choose, pairing it with a good-quality bucking, a clean inner barrel and quality BBs will help you get the best results.
Signs your hop-up needs attention
If your BBs curve off to one side, drop suddenly or vary a lot from shot to shot, your hop-up may need attention. A worn bucking, a dirty barrel or a nub that doesn't sit evenly are all common causes. Upgrading the arm and nub can help, but it's worth cleaning your barrel and checking the bucking at the same time so you're addressing the whole system.
Fitting tips
Check the product page to confirm compatibility with your hop unit before you buy. When fitting, make sure the nub sits evenly and that the arm moves freely. After installation, test your hop setting with the BB weight you normally use and adjust gradually.
If you're not confident upgrading your own gun, it may be worth asking a tech to help.
Remember to re-check your gun's power on a chronograph after any internal changes, as some sites check every gun before play.
