Why are high-cap magazines good for Airsoft?

High-cap magazines are great for a few reasons. Firstly, they provide a much higher capacity than standard magazines, which means you don’t have to worry about reloading as often. This can be a huge advantage in a firefight as you don’t need to break your stance to reload a standard magazine. Secondly, they are a great way to store a lot of ammunition without having to carry a bunch of individual magazines. This can be a huge help when you’re carrying a lot of gear in a game. Finally, they are much more cost-effective than buying a lot of individual magazines.

What are the pros and cons of a high-cap magazine?

The main pro of a high-cap magazine is the increased capacity. Not only does this allow you to fire more, but it also means you don’t have to reload as often. The main con is that a high-cap magazine can be a bit bulkier and heavier than a standard magazine, which can be a nuisance if you carry a lot of gear.

Do you need a speedloader for hi-cap magazines?

No, a speedloader is not necessary for a hi-cap magazine. The only time a speedloader may be beneficial would be if the magazine is a low-cap, as a speedloader can help you quickly load a lot of BBs into a magazine.

How many hi-cap mags should I carry in airsoft?

That depends on a few factors, such as the type of gun you’re using and how long a game typically lasts for you. Generally speaking, a good rule of thumb is to have at least two hi-cap magazines with you in a game. This will give you a bit of a buffer in case you run out of BBs and need a quick reload.

High-Capacity Airsoft Magazines

High capacity magazines or 'high caps' in airsoft are magazines which hold anywhere from 200 up to 1000 airsoft BBs in one reservoir compared to the average 100 BBs in Mid cap magazines. They have a wheel at the bottom to wind up tension and bring the BBs to the top and into the airsoft guns hop chamber. Depending on brand and size, one complete wind is usually enough to load all the BBs continuously without any issues. High-cap AEG mags are usually recommended for players just starting or those that frequent woodland sites where you'll need a lot more ammunition across the larger terrain and longer games. Although they don't hold as much as a box or drum magazine, they are guaranteed to keep you going for a little while. We have plenty of magazine options available from E&C, Cyma, Jing Gong, Tokyo Marui, PTS, Ares Amoeba, ASG, Emerson Gear, King Arms, ZCI and more!
