Frequently Asked Questions

Need To know more?

How Do I Know If My Selector Plate Is Broken?

Common signs include the gun not switching fire modes correctly, firing on full auto when set to semi, or the selector feeling loose or stuck. Open the gearbox and check the plate for bends, cracks or worn teeth.

Are Selector Plates Universal?

No. Selector plates are specific to the gearbox type and model, such as version 3 AK gearboxes, MP5K or Tokyo Marui Next Gen Recoil rifles. Always check compatibility on each listing.

AEG Selector Plates and Switches

The selector plate links your fire selector lever to the gearbox, moving the trigger contacts and cut-off to switch between safe, semi and full auto. A worn, bent or broken selector plate can stop your gun changing fire modes properly, so it's a common part to replace during servicing.

Selector plates

We stock the SHS AK47 selector plate for version 3 gearboxes, the JG MP5K selector plate for MP5K-series AEGs, and the Prometheus hard selector plate for Tokyo Marui Next Gen Recoil M4, HK416 and HK417 rifles.

Selector switches, levers and small parts

The SHS M4/M16 selector switch suits AR-style AEGs. For JG36 owners, we carry replacement selector levers for both sides, including grub screws, springs and nubs, as well as the selector spring and bearing, which are notoriously easy to lose during a rebuild.

Fitting tips

Make a note of how the selector plate and gears are positioned before stripping your gearbox, and check the selector moves smoothly through each position before closing it up. If you're not confident working on your gearbox, our in-house tech team can help.
