Frequently Asked Questions

Need To know more?

What Battery Does My AEG Need?

Many modern AEGs run on 7.4v LiPo batteries. An 11.1v LiPo gives a faster rate of fire and sharper trigger response, but it's best paired with a MOSFET or ETU to protect the trigger contacts.

Check the product listing for the battery space and connector type (for example Mini Tamiya, Deans or XT60), and always charge LiPo batteries with a suitable balance charger.

Is an AEG a Good First Airsoft Gun?

Yes. AEGs are reliable, inexpensive to run and work in all weather, which is why they're our usual recommendation for new players. Our team is always happy to help you choose one to suit your budget and playing style.

Do Your AEGs Come With a Warranty?

Yes. All AEGs we sell come with a 12-month warranty covering manufacturing defects. Please see our warranty page for full details.

Electric Airsoft Guns (AEGs) at Socom Tactical

An AEG (automatic electric gun) uses a rechargeable battery to power a motor inside the gearbox. The motor turns a set of gears that pull back a spring-loaded piston and then release it, pushing a burst of air through the barrel to send the BB on its way. Because each shot is powered electrically rather than by gas, AEGs perform consistently whatever the weather, which is why they remain the most popular choice on UK sites.

Why choose an AEG?

AEGs are affordable to run. Once you have a 7.4v or 11.1v LiPo battery and a charger, your main ongoing cost is BBs. They are forgiving to maintain, and with plenty of mid-cap and high-cap magazines available, you'll never be short of ammunition.

From first rifle to fully tuned build

Our range covers M4 and HK416-style rifles, MCX platforms, MP5s and other SMGs, DMRs such as the E&C M110A1, and bullpups from Silverback. Many models now come with an electronic trigger unit (ETU), such as E-Shooter or Poseidon's Bluetooth units, for sharper trigger response and programmable fire modes. Prefer Kalashnikov platforms? See our airsoft AKs, or for M4-pattern rifles browse our airsoft ARs.

When you're ready to upgrade, our MOSFETs and ETUs, AEG motors, hop units and rubbers and tune-up kits will help you get more from your rifle.

Buying an RIF in the UK

To buy a realistic imitation firearm (RIF), you'll need a valid defence, such as UKARA registration. If you don't have one, we can two-tone your AEG in a bright colour free of charge, or you can choose from our pre-two-toned airsoft guns.
