This starter kit pairs the PolarStar F2 HPA engine for the VFC HK417 with a Strike Airsoft regulator and flexible air line, giving you everything you need to convert your 417 AEG to HPA. It fits the VFC HK417 and the Umarex HK417 AEG, itself manufactured by VFC. To run it, just add an HPA tank, such as our Nuprol 48ci or CGE 13ci, and a small battery like our Oper8 Mini HPA LiPo, and the rifle is ready to tune.

Perfect for DMR conversions
The real HK417 has a strong reputation as a marksman rifle, which makes the 417 one of the most popular platforms for airsoft DMR builds. HPA suits a DMR well: it is quiet, consistent from shot to shot, and capable of reaching the higher power limits a DMR runs at, with power set at the regulator rather than by changing springs. Most importantly, the F2's FCU can also deactivate full-auto, keeping the rifle in line with UK law and site limits for DMRs.
PolarStar F2 engine
The F2 uses two solenoids, one for the nozzle and one for the poppet valve, so each can be timed independently. This gives very consistent shot-to-shot velocity and a near-instant trigger response. PolarStar rate it at up to 30 rounds per second, and it can run in closed-bolt or AEG mode.
Programmable FCU
The fire control unit lets you assign semi, full auto or a 2 to 9 round burst to each selector position. You can also set a rate-of-fire limit, adjust dwell timings, and enable an anti-stiction pulse for cold-weather play. All settings are made with the button on the FCU.
Strike regulator and line
The Strike regulator adjusts from 0 to 210 PSI and has a clear gauge, so you can set and check your pressure at a glance. It is supplied with the Strike 40″ Flexy line, which is braided, rated to 280 PSI and fitted with US QD connectors.
This kit is for VFC HK417 owners building a DMR-spec rifle on HPA, for its improved trigger response, consistency and fine control over their rifle's performance. Installation needs some technical confidence; if you are new to gearbox work, we recommend having it fitted by a tech. You will need an HPA tank and a battery for the FCU. The FCU only needs a small 7.4v LiPo. The battery should be unplugged after each game. We also refill HPA tanks in our store for £3 a fill.

How do I set up the PolarStar F2 kit as a DMR?
PolarStar recommend 45 to 145 PSI. The Strike regulator can go higher than this, but set it no higher than 145 PSI, as running too high a pressure risks seriously damaging the F2 unit. Then chrono the rifle and adjust the pressure to your site's DMR limit; FPS is controlled by pressure alone, so no nozzle or spring changes are needed. UK law limits full-auto capable RIFs to 1.3 joules and single-shot RIFs to 2.5 joules, so a DMR running above 1.3J must be locked to semi-automatic. Use the FCU to deactivate full-auto.

Will the PolarStar F2 fit my 417?
This version of the F2 is built specifically for the VFC HK417 AEG, including the Umarex-licensed HK417 replicas that VFC manufacture. HK417 replicas from other brands use different gearboxes and receivers, so it is not designed to fit them. If you are unsure, ask us before ordering. Some 417 AEGs use a standard Version 2 gearbox, which can be fitted with the V2-spec F2 kit.
