What Is HPA?
High-pressure air (HPA) systems run an airsoft gun from a compressed air tank rather than a battery-powered gearbox or a gas magazine. Air travels from the tank through a regulator and line to the gun, which gives consistent performance regardless of the weather. That consistency is why many players use HPA for sniper rifles, non-blowback pistols and support guns, as well as for HPA engines fitted into AEG platforms.
Filling Your HPA Tank
Once you've invested in an HPA setup, you'll need a way to keep your tank topped up. A scuba yoke fill station, such as the Dominator Scuba Yoke Fill Station in this collection, connects to a scuba cylinder so you can refill your airsoft tank from a larger air supply. Many players find this convenient at home or at the site, especially on long game days.
Things to Check Before Filling
- Fittings: make sure the fill station matches both your source cylinder and the fill nipple on your airsoft tank.
- Pressure ratings: never fill a tank beyond the working pressure marked on it, and fill slowly to limit heat build-up.
- Test dates: HPA tanks and scuba cylinders must be within their test dates to be filled safely.
- Condition: inspect hoses, O-rings and gauges before each use and replace anything that looks worn or damaged.
If you're unsure whether a fill station suits your equipment, please get in touch before you order and we'll help you check. It's also worth reading the instructions supplied with any fill station before first use.
