KJ Works Airsoft Spares
KJ Works (often shortened to KJW) is a well-known name in gas-powered airsoft, particularly gas blowback pistols. This collection focuses on spares that keep those pistols running, starting with the KJW Ruger MK1 spare GBB magazine.
Why Carry Spare Magazines?
With any gas pistol, the magazine is both the ammunition supply and the gas reservoir. That means one magazine has to cope with feeding BBs, holding pressure and supplying gas for every shot. Having at least one spare magazine lets you keep playing while another warms up, avoids long trips back to the safe zone to refill, and gives you a backup if a seal starts to leak during a game. For sidearm users, a couple of loaded spares in a pouch can make all the difference when your primary runs dry.
The KJW Ruger MK1 Magazine
The KJW Ruger MK1 spare magazine is designed for the KJ Works Ruger MK1 gas pistol. Magazines are model-specific, so always check that a magazine is listed for your exact pistol before buying. A magazine from a different model or manufacturer may look similar but can fail to seat, feed or seal properly.
Choosing the Right Gas
Gas magazines perform differently depending on the gas you use and the temperature on the day. Lower-power gases are gentler on parts and suit warmer weather, while higher-power gases can help in cooler conditions but put more strain on the gun. Follow the manufacturer's guidance for your pistol, and if in doubt start with a milder gas. You'll find a range of options in our airsoft gas collection.
Looking After Your Magazines
- Fill magazines with the can upright and inverted over the fill valve, in short bursts, so you get liquid gas rather than vapour.
- Store magazines with a small amount of gas in them to keep the seals supple.
- Apply a drop of silicone oil to the fill valve and seals from time to time.
- Keep the feed lips and follower clean and free of dirt and broken BBs.
- Let a cold magazine warm up between strings of fire rather than emptying it in one go.
Silicone oils and maintenance gases can be found in our airsoft grease and lubricants range.
