About Krylon
In 1947, a Philadelphia businessman, Howard E. Kester, revolutionized the paint industry and founded Krylon, Inc., the first and still largest supplier of aerosol paints in the world.
Krylon® Products were first introduced in 1947 by Foster & Kester, a manufacturer of brush-on clear protective acrylic coatings used in the commercial art business. Inspired by the DuPont Corporation’s development of a formula combining gas and liquid into a single spray can, Kester creatively devised a way to blend his coatings into a product that had many advantages over the brush-on method – aerosol.
Krylon Fusion Gun Paint
Our Krylon range currently features Krylon Fusion gun paint in white. Spray paint is one of the easiest ways to change the look of an airsoft gun or accessory, whether you want to refresh a scuffed finish, customise a replica or add a light base coat before a camouflage pattern. White is a versatile shade that works well on its own, as part of a winter or snow scheme, or as a bright base layer that helps other colours stand out.
Preparing Your Gun for Painting
Good preparation makes the biggest difference to the finish:
- Strip down where you can – remove magazines, batteries, slings, optics and any removable parts you don't want painted.
- Clean and degrease – oil, grease and dirt stop paint from bonding, so wipe the surface down thoroughly and let it dry.
- Mask carefully – cover the muzzle, hop-up adjustment, magazine well, trigger, selector, sights and any moving parts or rails you need to keep clear.
- Lightly key glossy surfaces – a light scuff can help paint grip smooth plastic or metal.
Painting Tips
Work in a well-ventilated area, ideally outdoors on a dry, still day. Shake the can thoroughly and follow the instructions on the can for distance and drying times. Several light, even coats give a far better result than one heavy coat, which is more likely to run or stay tacky. Let each coat dry before adding the next, and allow the paint to cure fully before handling, reassembling or using the gun. Keep paint well away from internal parts, gearboxes and gas systems.
Camouflage and Custom Finishes
Many players use several colours to build up a disruptive camouflage pattern. A common approach is to lay down a base coat, then add patches or stripes in other shades using stencils, netting, leaves or masking tape. Take your time and step back regularly to check the overall effect from a distance, as that's how other players will see it on the field.
