Description

If you want to fine-tune how your VSR-10 shoots, the W.A.S.P (WASP) piston from Sniper Mechanics gives you more control than a standard piston. It's the original weight adjustable piston, brought back with an improved design and material tweaks.

You set the piston weight with one of three sleeves, from a light plastic sleeve to medium and heavy steel ones, then choose between no airbrake, a mid brake or a full airbrake. That lets you match the piston to your spring, barrel and BB weight. Its guide ring and cup design keep things reasonably quiet, even at 4.5 joules with a weighted, unbraked setup. For the full package, add the Sniper Mechanics VSR10/SSG10 damper cylinder head, which is designed to pair with it.

In the kit

  • VSR W.A.S.P base piston body
  • Rear sear
  • Front and rear guide rings
  • Light plastic sleeve, plus medium and heavy steel sleeves
  • Non-airbrake fitting, mid brake and full airbrake
  • Injection moulded cup
  • One-piece stainless steel spring guide

Before you fit it

  • The airbrake is only effective up to a certain power. Past that point, the spring and piston override it and slow the air too much, so you lose power. The break point depends on your build.
  • It suits most 13mm springs, but some lower-power SBA springs are a different spec and may bind.
  • Lubricate the cup before use, ideally with silicone oil.
