Frequently Asked Questions

Need To know more?

What's the difference between mid-cap and low-cap magazines?

Low-caps usually hold a realistic amount, such as 30 BBs, while mid-caps often hold around 100 to 190 rounds. Neither needs winding or rattles like a high-cap.

Which AEG magazine brands do you stock?

PTS, Top-How, E&C, Silverback, Tokyo Marui, Wolverine, ICS, VFC, Valken, JG, Modify, S&T and ZCI.

How do I load a mid-cap magazine?

Mid and low-cap magazines are best loaded with a speedloader, so keep one in your kit bag. See our speed loaders and accessories collection.

Will these magazines fit my gun?

Each listing says which guns the magazine is made for. If you're not sure, email us at online@socomtactical.net and we'll check before you order.

Mid and Low-Capacity Airsoft Magazines

Automatic electric guns (AEGs) are some of the most popular airsoft guns on the market and a good gun deserves a good magazine.

If you are looking for a great AEG magazine, look no further than Socom's range of mid and low-capacity options. These magazines eliminate the rattle and winding that you typically get with high-cap magazines. Mid and low-cap mags also offer players the most realistic experience.

Low caps usually provide a realistic amount of ammunition, such as 30 BBs per magazine, whilst mid caps often hold anywhere between 100 to 190 rounds on average.

That gives you the perfect blend of firepower and realism. Whatever your preference, remember to stock up on plenty of magazines and a magazine pouch to carry them.

Low and mid-cap magazines are best loaded with a speedloader, so don't forget to make sure you have one in your kit bag.

Popular Mid Cap Ranges

PTS EPM Magazines

PTS Syndicate's Enhanced Polymer Magazines are among the best known M4-style mid caps. The range here includes the EPM Gen 2, the 250-round EPM1 and EPM1 RX, the shorter 170-round EPM1S, the EPM-G for G36, an AK 155-round waffle mag, the US PALM AK30, an AR-9 magazine and versions for Tokyo Marui Next Gen Recoil rifles, the Systema PTW and the DAS GDR-15. Many are available in black and dark earth.

Modify XTC and Bhive

Modify's 190-round XTC M4 mid cap and 150-round Bhive M4 mag come in black and tan, singly or in boxes of five. The Bhive is also offered as a tracer magazine for use with glow-in-the-dark BBs.

Other Brands

You'll also find mid caps from Tokyo Marui, ICS, Cyma, E&C, ZCI, S&T, KWA, King Arms, Wolverine and Well, covering everything from G36 and SCAR-H to SR25, 417, MP7, VZ61 Scorpion, Sterling, MP40 / Sten and even the ICS M1 Garand.

Checking Compatibility

Most standard M4 mid caps fit the majority of M4-style AEGs, but there are important exceptions. Tokyo Marui Next Gen Recoil rifles need NGR-specific magazines, such as the TM 82-round mid caps, while PTWs and some other systems also need their own mags. Even among standard M4s, the fit can vary slightly between brands, so check the product title and, if possible, test a single magazine before buying a box set.

Low caps of around 20 to 50 rounds, like the JG G36 / SL8 20-round magazine or the ICS MAR T ARK 50/30, are popular for milsim events with round limits. For gas rifles, see our gas blowback rifle magazines, or browse AR-style rifles to match your mags.
