Frequently Asked Questions

Need To know more?

What do Airsoft Barrels Do?

The hop-up mechanism feeds the BB into the inner barrel from the magazine, and the bullet travels through the barrel and is fired towards the target.

Does AEG Barrel Length Matter?

The length of the inner barrel affects the FPS (feet per second) firing rate of the airsoft gun. Generally, longer barrels will increase velocity and create FPS rates.

What Barrel Length Do I Need for My Airsoft Gun?

Even though longer barrels provide higher FPS, that doesn't necessarily mean it’s the right fit for you or your gun. Some guns work better with shorter barrels, so consider the size and type of gun you have as well as your playing style.

Why Has My Barrel Stopped Working?

Common reasons why an AEG barrel may stop working could be due to: dirt or debris in the barrel, old parts and springs, a misaligned hop-up unit or damaged parts inside the barrel.

First, clean the barrel to make sure there aren't any jammed BBs or debris, then check the other components of your barrel and replace any worn parts. If your barrel is damaged, it will need replacing.

Airsoft AEG Inner Barrels

We have a great variety of airsoft AEG barrels for repairing and upgrading your existing ones to help improve consistency and accuracy.

Our tightbore barrels come in a choice of diameters, such as 6.02mm and 6.03mm, and are available in numerous lengths up to 715mm, allowing you to find the exact size that your airsoft gun needs.

The Importance of Inner Barrels

The inner barrel works with the hop-up to guide each BB towards your target, so making sure it's clean, straight and in good condition is paramount.

The barrel length can affect the FPS of your airsoft gun, as it needs to be matched to the air volume of your cylinder. Choosing the right length helps you find the balance between velocity, consistency and manoeuvrability. Bore Sizes in Our Range

We stock barrels in several bore sizes. ZCI stainless steel tight bore barrels are 6.02mm; Prometheus, SHS/PPS and Unicorn Nitroflon-coated barrels are 6.03mm; Action Army barrels come in 6.01mm and 6.03mm; and Silverback brass barrels are 6.05mm. Tighter bores are often chosen for consistency, while slightly wider bores can be more forgiving with a range of BB weights and quality. The right choice depends on your BBs, hop-up and overall setup.

Choosing the Right Length

Measure your existing inner barrel or check your gun's specification before ordering. ZCI barrels are listed in lengths from 128mm up to 715mm, with Prometheus and other brands filling in many sizes in between, so there's an option for most AEGs, from compact SMGs to long DMR builds. The barrel needs to fit inside your outer barrel and seat correctly in your hop unit, so length matters just as much as bore.

Fitting and Care

Before fitting a new barrel, run a cleaning rod with a lint-free cloth through it to remove any residue, and fit a fresh hop rubber if your old one is worn. Keep grease and oil out of the bore. After fitting, check your FPS with a chronograph to make sure it is within your site's limits, and set your hop-up again with the BBs you normally use.
