209 Primers for Airsoft Grenades

This collection covers 209 primers for airsoft blank-firing grenades (BFGs), currently the Cheddite 209 primers supplied in packs of 100. A primer is the small charge that produces the bang when a BFG goes off, so a good stock of them is essential if you use reusable pyro on game days.

How 209 Primers Work in a BFG

Reusable blank-firing grenades use a firing pin and spring mechanism. When the grenade is triggered, either after a timed delay or on impact depending on the design, the pin strikes the primer and it fires with a loud report. After each use you remove the spent primer, reset the mechanism and fit a fresh one. Because the grenade itself is reusable, primers are the main running cost, and buying them in packs of 100 means you're covered for plenty of games.

Compatibility

Many modern BFGs are designed around the 209 primer, but not all grenades accept the same type of charge. Some older or alternative designs use 9mm blanks or other caps, and some can be converted with an adapter. Always check your grenade's instructions or product page to confirm it is made for 209 primers before you buy, and never try to force a primer into a chamber it doesn't fit. If you run Dynatex grenades, you'll find suitable models and adapters in our Dynatex blank firing grenades collection.

Safe Handling and Storage

  • Store primers in their original packaging, somewhere cool, dry and away from heat or naked flames.
  • Keep them out of reach of children.
  • Only fit a primer when you're ready to use the grenade, and keep the safety pin in place until you throw.
  • Remove spent primers after use and take them home with you rather than leaving them on site.
  • Follow your site's rules on pyro, including where and how grenades may be thrown.

Age and Delivery Restrictions

Primers are subject to age restrictions and delivery limitations, so please check the product page for details before ordering. Some sites also have their own policy on which primers and grenades are permitted, so it's worth confirming with your site before your first game.

Building Your Pyro Kit

As well as primers, consider spare grenade pins, a priming or reset tool for quicker turnarounds and a suitable pouch to carry your grenades securely on your rig. Browse our wider ranges of reusable blank firing grenades, blanks and caps and grenade pouches to complete your setup.
