The piston head seals against the cylinder as your AEG's piston moves forward, pushing air through the nozzle to fire the BB. A worn or poorly sealing piston head loses air, which means lower and less consistent FPS.

Types of Piston Head
Bearing Piston Heads
A bearing head lets the spring rotate freely as it compresses, reducing spring twist and wear. Popular choices include the ZCI CNC aluminium head with bearings and Rocket POM head with bearing.
Double O-Ring Heads
Two O-rings improve the seal against the cylinder, helping consistency. Try the ZCI double O-ring bearing head or Rocket double O-ring head.
Silent and POM Heads
Silent heads reduce the sound of each shot, ideal for stealthy builds. See the Rocket silent piston head. Lightweight POM heads, such as the EPES POM head, suit high rate-of-fire builds.

AOE Correction
Angle of engagement (AOE) is how the sector gear first meets the piston. Getting it right reduces stress on the first piston tooth. Sorbo and spacer pads, such as the Rocket 70-H sorbo pad and EPES 0.5mm spacer pads, help correct it and soften the piston's impact.
